Tuscola County commissioners have approved several spending and infrastructure items, including a change aimed at spreading out the cost of a major drain project.
At their September 17th meeting, commissioners agreed to extend financing for the Village of Gagetown Drain Project from 15 years to 20 years, a move intended to lower the annual cost to affected property owners. The project carries a total price tag of about $430,000. The county Drain Commissioner's office lists the Gagetown Drain among its active 2026 projects.
Commissioners also approved nearly $32,425 in mosquito-control equipment - 5 electric backpack foggers for about $13,450 dollars, along with a new truck-mounted fogger costing $18,974.
In other action, the board approved advertising for a new Tuscola County Dispatch Director, setting the salary at just over $72,263. The position follows a period in which the county used interim co-directors after the previous leadership vacancy.
