Jim Zulauf, who is the Bingham Township representative on the Central Huron Ambulance Board, provided an update on the ambulance service.
The ambulance company changed over to becoming authority instead of being operated by a board. By doing that, the service has more liability protection and can levy an assessment for funds to operate the service.
During the meeting, it was reported the State of Michigan is still renewing the resolution and paperwork of the ambulance services becoming an authority.
Zulauf also noted the service's paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMT) received a pay increase, a new ambulance has been put into service, and there were four calls for an ambulance during the month.
During the meeting, Fire Chief Joseph Stacer presented the department's annual report noting there had been 60 calls for service during the year.
He also presented the department's 2026 budget, and requested two purchases.
Stacer explained he wants to use $30,000 to buy turnout gear and to spend $2,621 for SCBA masks by using the tax money levied by the emergency services milage.
