In Huron County District Court, Michael David Bruce was arraigned today on a wildlife conservation violation. He is accused of failing to affix an appropriate tag to his trap on or about June 2nd, 2026. This misdemeanor carries potential penalties of up to 90 days in jail, a fine between $50 and $500, and forfeiture of any animals taken.
Attorney Dallas Rooney, representing Bruce for arraignment purposes only, entered a not guilty plea by standing mute.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Alexander Pahany is representing the people.
The court has set a deadline of June 25th, 2026, for the prosecutor to provide a plea offer and for all discovery to be exchanged.
A plea cutoff hearing is scheduled for July 9th, 2026, at 9 AM, which will be an in-person proceeding and the final date for plea agreements or motions.
Bruce is expected to either represent himself or secure legal counsel.
His bond remains set at $1,000, 10% posted, with standard conditions.
A statement from the prosecutor indicated to the defendant that a plea agreement is likely without the defendant needing to hire an attorney.
