The village of Clifford has issues with blighted properties.

One of the offenders is a home at 4420 Maitland St.

Clerk Laura Fenton explained to the council that several letters have been sent to the owners of that property on and off for as long as she has been clerk which is 19 years.

The unanswered letters turned into tickets with nothing being done towards taking care of the blight.

During discussion, it was noted the council can have an attorney file an injunction with the court.

If that is done, the owners will have 21 days to clean the property up or the village can hire it to be cleaned up and place the bill on the property's taxes.

After learning that, the council approved having legal counsel file an injunction with the court on the Maitland Street property to prompt a cleanup.
