Sleeper State Park Observes Blanding Turtle Laying Eggs

A female Blanding's turtle was observed laying eggs by park rangers, who have since marked the nesting site to help protect it.

Officials say the eggs are vulnerable to predators and note that Blanding's turtle hatchlings typically emerge between 60 and 90 days after they are laid.

The rangers plan to monitor the site and will provide an update if the nest successfully hatches.
