Lake Township Officials to do a Joint Meeting Regarding Litigation

There will be a special meeting at 1 p.m., on Thursday, June 18 between the Lake Township Board of Trustees and the township's planning commission.
The meeting, which will be at the village hall at 4988 West Kinde Rd, Caseville, is to meet with the township's legal counsel.
Township officials will meet in a closed session to consult with their attorney regarding settlement strategy in connection with pending litigation of Driftwood Lavender LLC vs Lake Township.
The case is pending in the U. S. District Court of Eastern District of Michigan.
The two entities have been at odds regarding the business wanting to expand its offerings and the township's denial to allow that.
Although the meeting will be closed, under the state's Open Meeting Act (OMA) the meeting has to begin in open session before the meeting can be closed.
