Tuscola County Approves 7 Intersection Safety Upgrades

The Tuscola County Road Commission has approved safety improvements at seven intersections throughout the county in an effort to reduce crashes and improve traffic safety.
The approved locations include Bradleyville Road and M-138, Vassar Road and M-138, Birch Run Road and M-15, Hurds Corner Road and M-46, Hurds Corner and Bevens roads, Birch Run and Irish roads, and Hurds Corner and Deckerville roads.
Among the projects, the intersection of Hurds Corner and Deckerville roads will receive overhead flashing lights and be converted to a four-way stop. Preliminary engineering has also been approved to determine whether the intersection could eventually be reconstructed as a mini roundabout.
The Road Commission says engineering work is already underway for the Birch Run and Irish roads intersection, as well as Hurds Corner and Deckerville roads. Once funding is secured, construction could begin as early as this fall, with some projects extending into the spring of 2027.
