The Tuscola County Courthouse, 440 North St., will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 for a special event.
The Safe and Just Michigan organization in coordination with the Michigan Office of the Attorney General is offering a free Expungement Fair at the courthouse.
The event offers an opportunity to clear some charges off of a criminal record, which opens up some employment opportunities, education opportunities, and more.
The courtrooms will be open on that day and security screening at the entrance of the courthouse will be done like usual.
Those who want to participate in the event will need to bring a state or federal issued identification, a driver's license, or a birth certificate for proof of identity.
There are some crimes that cannot be expunged. They are:
Driving under the influence second or third.
An individual who has more than three offenses.
Any traffic offenses committed while operating a commercial vehicle or one that caused an injury or death.
Any traffic offense committed while operating a commercial vehicle.

And, any out-of-state or federal convictions.
The event is free to any Michigan resident.
