Bad Axe School District Planning Event to Honor Veterans

During Monday's Bad Axe School District's Board of Education meeting, it was announced plans are being made to honor veterans, and the evaluation form of the superintendent was distributed for Greg Newland.
A Veteran's Day program is planned for Nov. 11, at 9:15 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. As part of the event, refreshments will be served at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria for veterans and their families with the program to follow.
The board each received a copy of the Superintendent's Evaluation Tool with a brief discussion regarding the timeline for completion for next month. Under the state's new regulations, superintendents are to be evaluated on the they are performing their duties.
In other matters, the 2024-2025 audit was presented. The district received a clean unmodified audit opinion which is the highest level of assurance possible for the district's financial statements.
The board then approved hiring some winter coaches.
For the girls junior high basketball, the head coach for the seventh-grade is Kelly Wolschlager, and the head coach for eighth grade is Tom Kervin.
For the boys junior high basketball, the head eight-grade coach is Tom Kervin.
For basketball, the boys assistant varsity coach is Brett Bachman.
The volunteer boys coaches are Jason Jurgess, and Kylie Braun.
The boys junior varsity coach is Jack Clancy.
For the girls varsity assistant coach is Mae Woodke.
The girls junior varsity coach is Cheyenne Perry.
For wrestling, the junior high coach is Adam Hollingsworth, and the volunteer assistant coaches are Dan Hass and Jim Hass.
