The 35th Annual Pigeon Lions Club Safari was held at the newly modeled Pigeon VFW Hall Wednesday evening, July 11th. Over 200 ticket holders had a great time with h'ordurves, refreshments, and a complete dinner. Some ticketholders had a better time than others with every fifth ticket owner receiving a hundred dollars in cash prizes. At last years Safari, Marty Baker from Elkton, was a finalist for the top cash prizes and was talked into splitting the final winnings with the other ticket holders left in the drawing. Marty vowed this year, should he hold one of the final tickets, he would continue asking for drawings until the final cash prize of $3,500 was drawn. As fate would have it, Marty was a finalist a the 35th Annual and as the other final ticket holders discussed splitting the winnings, Marty said the show must go on, and he was surprisingly drawn as the lucky $3,500 cash prize winner. Second prize was $1,000, won by Kelly and Mike Richmond, Eric Lundy of Bad Axe won 3rd with $700 in cash, and fourth prize winner Duane Wortley won $400. It was a great night for all at the 35th Annual Pigeon Lions Club Safari. Donations this past year totaled $6,600 for local organizations.
