Funeral Information

There will be a Funeral Service Tuesday October 6, 2026, at 2pm at the United Methodist Church of Pinnebog. Burial will follow at St. Felix Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 1pm -7pm at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde and on Tuesday from 1pm until the time of service at the church.

Family of the Deceased

She loved her family deeply. Diana is survived by her brothers, Dennis Collins of Oak Beach/Port Austin and Terry (Lee) Collins of Westland and Oak Beach/Port Austin, as well as generations of nieces and nephews whose lives filled hers with love, laughter, pride, and—undoubtedly—a fair amount of chaos. Her nieces and nephews include Christopher (Nicole) Collins of Clarkston, Denise Collins (Patrick) King of Pigeon, Geoffrey Collins of Plymouth, Kristen Collins Quesada of Canton, Tim (Shannon) Collins of Westland, Steven (Megan) Collins of Illinois, David (Karen) Collins of Ann Arbor, and the late Kevin Collins. She was also blessed with the next generations of her family: Benjamin, Adam and Sarah (Mike Vianueva), Abigail Jean Collins; Michael McCue (Nailah, Michael, Melody and Dakota); Randi Glaza (Jade, Ruby); Joshua Howard; Paige Collins (Ryan) Keatts (Presley, Ryder, Warner and Emmett); Allison Collins; Andrew Collins; Olivia Quesada; Mia Quesada; Dylan Lorraine Collins; Olivine and Zen Collins; Ava Collins; Julia Quesada; and the late Matthew Soper.

Biography

Diana M. Collins was born December 1, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to Leone Gosselin Collins and Eddie Collins. She passed away on Sunday, October 4th at the age of 87 and 10/12ths. Diana lived a life defined by education, music, independence, service, and an unwavering willingness to speak her mind. She graduated from St. Mary of Redford High School before earning a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and a master's degree from California State University, Long Beach. A lifelong learner, Diana went on to complete doctoral coursework in Special Education at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and continued her studies at Wayne State University, the University of Detroit, UCLA, the University of California–Irvine, Creighton University, and Pepperdine University. During her 38-year career in education, Diana worked as a classroom teacher, special education consultant, and graduate assistant preparing future special education teachers. She began her career teaching kindergarten before finding her calling working with students with learning disabilities and other special needs. Some of the work she found most meaningful took place inside Michigan's state prisons, where she taught special education students with a wide range of learning challenges. Some entered her classroom unable even to write their own names. Diana believed fiercely in the ability and dignity of the people she taught, and education remained one of the great passions of her life. After retiring from education in 1998 because of rheumatoid arthritis, Diana certainly did not retire from life. Music had always been another of her great loves. Throughout the years, she shared her talents as a church musician and choir director and as a performer, accompanist, and musical director for community theater groups in Michigan, California, Iowa, and Nebraska. She spent many years with the Port Austin Community Players and later accompanied the singing group Act III. Through music and theater, Diana built friendships and continued doing what she loved for decades. And then there was politics. Despite insisting she had never intended to become involved in it, Diana spent a decade—from age 70 to 80—serving as secretary of Meade Township's Planning Commission. Her years of education, writing, leadership, and advocacy served her well there, too. Diana was never particularly interested in sitting quietly when she believed something mattered. But for all of her accomplishments, degrees, careers, music, theater, and community involvement, Diana knew that a life isn't measured only by what appears on a résumé. Diana once reflected: “Not many people can say they have done everything in life they wanted to—I can. The only thing missing was not having children, but my nephews and nieces have filled that void—to overflowing—for which I am eternally grateful.” Perhaps that is the best way to describe Diana's life: full to overflowing. At only 22 years old, early in her teaching career, Diana realized that she had already accomplished the things she had once imagined doing “when she grew up.” She then spent the decades that followed adding things she never could have planned—students taught, music performed, communities served, friendships made, family loved, and countless stories collected along the way. Diana did not simply fill 87 years. She packed them.

David was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Shirley Ringvelski and his brothers Robert Ringvelski and Steven Ringvelski.

Biography

David Paul Ringvelski, 67of Bad Axe, passed away at Marlette Hospital Facility on October 2, 2026. He was born to the late Lawrence and Shirley (Talka) Ringvelski in Detroit, Michigan March 18, 1959. David was a Tool and Die maker at U.S. Manufacturing of Bad Axe. He was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed watching old movies and Nascar auto racing. He would build small wooden ornaments in his garage, to sell at the Port Austin Farmer’s market.

Left to cherish Richard’s memory are his children, Richard, II (D’Anna), Robert, Roxanne, and Rodney (Janet); eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Sandy McLean. In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Randy Mclean; grandsons, Richard McLean, III and Daniel Richard Dufty.

Biography

Richard Robert McLean of Caseville, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, while at Huron County Medical Care Facility. He was born in Flint on October 12, 1934, the son of the late Robert and Lois (McDowall) McLean. On July 5, 1951, Richard married Carolyn Mae Beach in Flint, and together they began a life centered around family. They shared nearly thirty-seven years of marriage before Carolyn preceded him in death on July 4, 1988. In 1968, the couple moved to Caseville, where Richard worked for Gettel’s John Deere Tractor Dealer in Bad Axe for several years. In 1982, the family relocated to Daytona, Florida, where Richard became the proud owner of Z-Car Care Garage. After thirty-five years in business, he retired, sold the garage, and eventually returned to Caseville. Richard and Carolyn raised five children together, creating a loving home and many cherished memories along the way. In their later years, they enjoyed life as snowbirds, spending the winter months in Florida and returning home to Michigan when the warmer weather arrived. They also shared a love of bowling and especially enjoyed the time they spent together. Richard had a lifelong appreciation for anything with an engine. He enjoyed racing and building race cars and found a special thrill in flying airplanes. Whether working on cars, taking to the racetrack, or spending time in the air, Richard enjoyed the excitement and challenge each brought him.

Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence Bukoski will be Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Good Shepard Parish Catholic Church in Ubly at 11:00 am with Fr. Kumar officiating, with burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery, north of Ubly. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe, from 2-6 PM, with the rosary at 4 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at Good Shepard Parish Catholic Church in Ubly. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Marlene (Lubeski); son Jerome (Heidi), son, Glenn (Sherry), daughter, Michelle Cassens (John), son, Terry (Amanda); grandchildren, Jay, Alex (Sarah), Megan, Bradley (Brooke), Christopher (Natalie), Brandon (Bucek), Cole, Cameron; great-granddaughters, Harlow, Banner, Blakely, Brynn, Charlotte; and sister, Betty (Ward).

Biography

Lawrence “Larry” Bukoski, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Ubly, Michigan, on September 28, 2026. Larry was born on the family farm in Bingham Township east of Ubly on April 2, 1930. Larry spent his entire life living in and around the Ubly area and was thought to be one of the oldest and longest living residents of Ubly at the time of his passing. Larry proudly served his country in the Armed Services (Army) getting drafted in 1951. After completing Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, in Missouri, Larry returned to Ubly to marry Marlene on December 28, 1951, before being shipped out to Germany for 18 months of active duty. After several years of duty in the reserves Larry was honorably discharged in 1959. Larry’s work life included a series of interesting ventures that started with short stints of sailing on the Great Lakes and working as a carpenter on the construction of the St. John’s Catholic school in Ubly. His first long tenure job started in 1954 when he took a job in the testing lab at the Nestle’ milk processing plant in Ubly. Soon after starting at the plant, Larry became a union steward (he served as a union steward for over 14 years) and was very proud of the contract negotiations he was a part of with the corporate lawyers from New York that resulted in improved work hours and good pay increases for all his fellow workers at the plant. In 1971 when Nestle’ decided to close the Ubly plant, rather than moving his family to New York, Larry decided to retire from Nestle’ and become self-employed and started Bukoski Drywall. Larry truly was a master craftsman and artisan with the tools of his trade, and his drywall and ceiling texturing services were sought out by contractors and clients throughout the Tri-County area. Larry continued to selectively do drywall work into his mid 70’s (he did stop hanging drywall well before then because, as he would say, “that is a young guy’s job”) until the wear and tear of the work on his shoulders forced him to hang up his trowels. In 1984, while still operating Bukoski Drywall, Larry took a custodian job at the Huron County Building because the job provided better healthcare benefits for him and his family. Larry was well liked by the judges that worked in the building and he ended up doing drywall work for many of them in their homes. In 1994 Larry proudly retired from county service. Although he was a busy man with his work, Larry did enjoy several leisure time seasonal activities with his family and a circle of close special friends (Marvin and Stashia Fisher, Jerry and Marie Grifka, Mary Ann and “Brownie” Brown, Eugene and Dorothy Grifka, Donnie and Shirley Kulish, “Calvin” and Bertha Grifka). In the summer it was camping and fishing (Light House Park, Port Crescent State Park, and Jones Lake Rustic Campground were some of his favorite places), and there were many good times had on the annual “parents only” canoe trips on the Rifle River. In the winter Larry enjoyed snowmobiling wherever there was snow, or out on the ice on Saginaw Bay at Mud Creek when there wasn’t much snow, trips to Trout Lake in the UP, and the occasional “parents only” trips to Tip-Up Town on Houghton Lake. Larry and Marlene shared a common love for gardening, landscaping and caring for their yards. Larry especially liked hunting for large granite rocks he would haul home and split by hand to build retaining walls, foundation fascias, and landscape hardscapes. Larry proudly cut his own lawn until August of this year when his health forced him off his riding mower. The family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care Larry received from the wonderful caregivers from Compassus Hospice of Cass City. The love and hugs Larry and all the family received from Christy, Tammy, Robin, and Courtney warmed our hearts and helped all move through the difficult time.

Leroy's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 1 pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Biography

Leroy Walter Pleiness, 81 of Port Hope, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026 in Bad Axe. He was born in Bloomfield Township, to the late Herman Emil and Dora Delaine (Koglin) Pleiness on February 21, 1945. Leroy graduated from Port Hope Community High School in 1963. He married Loretta (Loga) Meno on June 13, 1980 and together they owned and operated the Port Hope Hotel, creating the famous "Leroy Burger". Leroy was an avid sports fan and enjoyed talking about the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions and the University of Michigan Football Team to whomever wanted to engage in these topics. Leroy loved Port Hope and was involved in bringing many baseball teams to Port Hope for tournaments. He enjoyed bowling and sponsored pool leagues, and was a fierce competitor no matter what he did.

Calvin is survived by his daughter, Michele (Cate) Stacer-Bransfield, of St. Petersburg, FL; daughters-in-law, Keri Stacer and Michele Stacer, both of Ruth; and his son, Scott Stacer, of Harbor Beach; his grandchildren, Lauren and Bentley Stacer; his sister Jean Zurek of Harbor Beach; in-laws Madelyn Stacer, Mike Wipping; Sally (Ray) O’Henley; and several nieces and nephews. Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, of 56 years, their infant daughter, Mary Louise, and sons Paul and Thomas; siblings Dennis Stacer, Thelma (Ray) Browski, and Phyllis (Richard) Ross; his brother-in-law Melvin Zurek; and sister-in-law Joan Wipping.

Biography

Calvin Edward Stacer, 83, of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Lakeview Extended Care at Harbor Beach under hospice care. Calvin was born on April 23, 1943, in Harbor Beach to the late Simon and Louise (Campbell) Stacer. He married Judy Wipping on May 2, 1964, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Calvin graduated from Our Lady of Lake Huron High School in 1961. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where he served as a member of the choir and the Men’s Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3823 in Ruth. Calvin was a lifelong dairy and row crop farmer in Sherman Township, where he farmed with his wife and sons. Calvin enjoyed spending time with his family, and he and Judy spent over 10 years square dancing with friends. For the past 26 years, Calvin was confined to a wheelchair, due to a staph infection that caused him to be paralyzed, but that didn’t slow him down. With his positive attitude, he inspired many, and always with his classic smile. Calvin and Judy enjoyed going out to eat, participated in two card clubs, traveled across the country from one end to the other, went on two cruises, and always rang in the New Year together with friends!
