They will lie in state on Wednesday, March 25, from 10 am until the 10:30 am Funeral Mass at St. Mary Queen of Creation Church, 50931 Maria St., New Baltimore, Michigan. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, New Baltimore, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the Michigan Humane Society, reflecting Ronald and Shirley's compassion for animals. Ron is survived by his loving daughters, Shaina and Sabrina Osentoski. He also leaves behind his siblings: Marie (the late Frank) Lasceski, Jim (Diana) Osentoski, Janice (John) Carpenter, Arnold (Joan) Osentoski, and Kevin Osentoski. He is predeceased by his infant daughter Star Angel and his brother, Robert Osentoski. Ronald is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will greatly miss his presence.

Biography

Ronald Joseph Osentoski, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, at the age of 69. Ronald was born on January 4, 1957, in Cass City, Michigan. Ronald led a fulfilling life enriched by his passions and family. An accomplished cook, Ron cherished preparing Polish dishes, especially during the Christmas season, drawing connections to his heritage and family traditions. His love for the outdoors was evident in his avid pursuits of hunting and fishing. He found peace gardening around his vacation home in Gaylord, Michigan, where he could also be found relishing his favorite Polish brandy, "Janoofka." A skilled professional in electrical motor repair, Ron operated and owned a successful business, earning respect and admiration in his field. Beyond his career, he shared a deep love for his dogs, Coco and Roxy, with his cherished wife, Shirley, who passed away just two days before him.Ron shared a beautiful and inspiring life journey with his late wife, Shirley Ann Osentoski, who passed on March 16, 2026. Shirley loved quilting, cross stitching, painting, and traveling—especially to visit their daughter in Arizona. She dedicated many years to the Anchor Bay School District before her retirement.

Shirley was predeceased by her infant daughter Star Angel. Ron is survived by his daughters, Shaina and Sabrina Osentoski, his siblings Marie (the late Frank) Lasceski, Jim (Diana) Osentoski, Janice (John) Carpenter, Arnold (Joan) Osentoski, and Kevin Osentoski. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Osentoski. Ron will be remembered fondly by his extended family, including numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Biography

Shirley Ann Osentoski peacefully passed away on March 16, 2026, in Chesterfield Township, Michigan, at the age of 69. Born on August 20, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, Shirley was known for her warmth, creativity, and love of life. Throughout her life, Shirley was an avid quilter and cross-stitch enthusiast who also enjoyed painting. Her artistic talents brought joy to many, but her true joy came from her beloved dogs, Coco and Roxy. She adored traveling, particularly to spend time with her daughter in Arizona. Shirley dedicated many years of her career to the Anchor Bay School District, where she brought kindness and expertise until her retirement. Alongside Shirley in eternal rest, Ronald Joseph Osentoski, her devoted partner, passed away on March 18, 2026. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and shared passions. Ron, born on January 4, 1957, in Cass City, Michigan, was known for his cooking prowess, especially his beloved Polish dishes during the Christmas season. He cherished his time gardening at their vacation home in Gaylord, Michigan, and found great satisfaction as an avid hunter and fisherman. Like Shirley, Ron had a profound love for their dogs, Coco and Roxy. He operated a successful electrical motor repair business, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and dedication.

The Funeral Mass for Mary Jane Smith will be celebrated Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 311 Whitelam St. Bad Axe, MI 48413. Celebrating will be Rev. Fr. Yesu Mulakaleti. Visitation will take place at church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Immediately following Mass, family and friends will travel in procession to Sacred Heart Cemetery for Committal Prayers and Interment. Biography

Mary Jane Smith age 90 years of Bad Axe, Michigan was born on October 31, 1935 to Doris (Ciaciuch) and Frank Helminiak in Kawkawlin Michigan and passed away March 18, 2026 surrounded by family in Burton, Michigan.  Mary Jane was a generous, dutiful, and humble woman, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She spent many years working with charitable organizations such as The Knights of Columbus, The Red Hat Society, multiple food pantries, The Daughters of Isabella, and the 50 and over club, where she held several offices among multiple organizations. Mary Jane loved to create, and always kept her hands busy, whether it was tending to her garden, crafting quilts for World Relief, creating clothing and toys for her grandchildren, or preparing frequent meals and baked goods for her family and loved ones; she could almost always be found finding ways to serve and care for others. She led a well rounded life with her love of family and charity accompanied by a passion for experiencing the world around her. An avid traveler, she went on many trips, whether to Europe, or more locally to visit lighthouses, waterfalls, casinos, and other outings with members of the communities she was involved in. She balanced her love for travel, and her love for her home and the people in and around it in a remarkable way that she will always be admired and remembered for.

Biography

James Holland 66 years old, of Filion Michigan, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 7, 1960 in Pontiac, Michigan, son of the late James and Judy (Bond) Holland. James married Mary LaLone on and she preceded him in death on March 3, 2025. James graduated in 1978 from Avondale High School. James was a hardworking man, and a great provider. He would give you the shirt off his back and help you in any way needed. He loved one woman all of his life. To his granddaughter, He was her life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was completing classes to join the Catholic Church.

Biography

Joshua C. Sorenson, 44, of Cass City passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 15, 2026. He was born May 2, 1981 in Cass City to Craig and Carolyn (Smith) Sorenson. Josh attended Owen-Gage schools, then Cass City High School graduating with the class of 2000. He also attended the Tuscola Technology Center where he excelled in automotive technology, competing at state and national levels earning first place in state and second place in national Motorsport mechanics. Early in his life he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and followed in believer’s baptism. He had attended Calvary Chapel in Vassar; recently, First Baptist Church in Cass City and Celebrate Recovery in Caro. One of his favorite hymns was “I’d Rather Have Jesus”. His family finds comfort that he is safe in the arms of Jesus. Through it all he found comfort in his faith and loved the old hymns. He enjoyed watching faith-based, on location documentaries of the Holy lands. He remarked that he wished he’d seen them a lot earlier in life. Josh was known for his natural problem-solving abilities, mechanical talent, and his deep love of motorcycles, tractors, and old cars. He could often be found fixing, tinkering, and pulling over to admire tractors at local retailers. Josh had a unique sense of humor and a very distinct laugh that could fill a room. His laughter brought joy to those around him. More than anything, Josh loved his daughters, Morgan and Lilly, who meant the world to him. He also cared deeply for his nieces and nephews and cherished the time he spent with them.

She was proceeded in death by one daughter, Mary Kay Wisneski. Also, her siblings: Rita (Stanley) Helewski, Irvin (Marie) Kubacki, Stanley (Margaret) Kubacki, Clarence Kubacki, Helen Kubacki, Mildred (Eugene) Lemke, Aloysius “Junior” Kubacki, and Rose Mary Wisneski; and her inlaws:Lawrence Vogel, Pauline Kubacki, Virginia (Eugene) Ignash, Geraldine Majeski, Lillian (Sylvester) Drake, and Harry Wisneski. A special Thank You to Marilyn Rice (soul sister) for the home cooked meals and the love that she gave to all of us, especially to Mom. Biography

Mary Ann Wisneski (91), passed away on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 at McLaren Thumb Regional Hospital in Bad Axe, with family by her side. Mary Ann was born on January 28th 1935 to Aloysius & Lucy (Smaglinski) Kubacki in Bingham Twp. She married Eugene “Frosty” Wisneski, on June 7th, 1958 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Smith’s Corners. Mary Ann graduated from Ubly High School in 1954 where she was a proud member of the percussion section of the band. She worked in the housekeeping department of Hubbard Hospital until she was blessed to be a stay at home mom. She provided baby-sitting for family and neighbors before going back to work at Huron County Medical Care Facility, where she worked as a dietary-aide until her retirement. Mary Ann enjoyed baking various treats for others to enjoy, as well as tending to her many flower and vegetable gardens for years, to then do the long hours of prepping and canning their harvest of fruits and vegetables. She took pride in stripping and reupholstering old furniture, was a bowler in the ladies and mixed leagues, loved to sew and quilt, helped with her daughter’s 4H group, and provided housecleaning services. She and her husband went on numerous trips and even more with her children, always loving to travel. Mary Ann enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit and watching them participate in their many school activities. After losing her sight, she spent much of the last 20 years making rosaries with her husband and daughter Mary Kay, listening to daily prayer services on TV, saying many, many rosaries daily for all family members, listening to polkas and country music, and was always willing to still dance an oberek or waltz when asked. She was the most kind hearted, caring, sympathetic, sweet, non-judgmental, generous, happy, smiley, fun, humble, and loveable lady. Always blessing others with “book-sop-watch”, her God Bless You.

David Hacker

Funeral Information

In accordance with Dave’s wishes, cremation is to take place. A celebration of life for Dave will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Harvest Church, 1365 South Van Dyke Road, Bad Axe, with Pastor Phil Hall presiding. The family will be present to share food and memories at the church’s fellowship hall following the service. Memorials may be made to Harvest Church. Dave is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Janet Hacker; children, Larry (Debi) Hacker, Denise (Jim) McLane, Jeff Hacker, Don Hacker, and Chris Hacker; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Clement Heleski; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jane Heleski.

Biography

David “Dave” A. Hacker of Elkton, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at McLaren Thumb Region in Bad Axe, Michigan. Dave was born on February 9, 1937, in Bad Axe, to the late Alexander and Minnie (Kroupa) Hacker and was a 1955 graduate of Elkton High School. He held various positions throughout his years, helping his father on the family farm in his younger years and working at several machine shops and factories throughout the region. Dave helped start Huron Tool and Engineering and retired as a machinist from the company in 2000. He met Janet Kay Andersen at a roller rink and a year later the couple would marry on September 19, 1959. She survives him. Dave loved the outdoors and felt at peace in nature, camping with his family and teaching woodcraft to children throughout the area as a Scout Leader in the Boy Scouts. He was a deeply faithful man and lifelong member of Harvest Church in Bad Axe where he was a board member, taught Sunday School, and served as a Royal Ranger Leader. He traveled with Janet throughout the country and spent his winters in Tucson, Arizona. Dave was a laid-back man who enjoyed the simple things in life, like sitting back and watching the Tigers or spending time with his beloved family.

Funeral Services for Kay will be Monday March 16, 2026 at 11 am at the Port Hope United Methodist Church, with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating. Burial will follow in the New River Cemetery. Kay is survived by her three children: Alan (Judy) McTaggart, Jean Norton, and Debra (Jerome) Lackowski, all of Port Hope. Six Grandchildren: Lindsey (Greg) DeJonge of Zeeland, Mark (Amanda) McTaggart of Traverse City, Autumn Norton of Mount Pleasant, April (Nick) Osburn of Mount Pleasant, Thomas (Kate) Norton of Port Hope, and Alex Lackowski of Filion. Eight great grandchildren: Fynlee DeJonge, Olive McTaggart, Henry DePottey, Carter Osburn, Charlotte Osburn, Michaella Norton, Londyn Norton and Piper Lackowski, sister-in-law: Donna Woolner of Capac and many nieces and nephews. Kay was a very loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, and will be deeply missed. Kay was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Jeanette Woolner, her husband Harold, brothers: Kenneth, James, Bernard, Alvin, Francis and infant Clarence, and her sister infant Sarah, brothers and sisters-in-law: Donald and Luetta (Gray) McTaggart, Neil McTaggart and Donald McTaggart, Ellen Jean (Thomas) Maus, her step mother Lorraine Apley Woolner, and nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very big thank you to Kendra, Deanndra and Brittany, the wonderful caregivers who showed Kay so much love and compassion over the past few years and especially in her final days.

Biography

Kathryn Ellen "Kay" McTaggart, age 95 of Port Hope, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her own home, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Kay was born on February 19, 1931 in Grindstone City, Michigan, to the late Alvin and Jeanette (McCachen) Woolner. Kay graduated from Cass City High School in 1949. Soon after graduating, Kay got a job at Frutchey Bean Co. in Cass City as the office girl. Her boss, Art Atwell, gave her the nickname Kay, because it was easier for him to remember. Kay and some friends travelled to Bad Axe on night, to the roller rink, where she met a handsome, young man, named Harold McTaggart. Harold and Kay were united in marriage on May 5, 1951 at the Gagetown Nazarene Church. Harold preceded her in death on May 2, 2016, just a few days shy of their 65th wedding anniversary. Kay then got a job working at Bad Axe Grain, where Harold also worked til 1956, when they moved their family to Port Hope. Together Harold and Kay founded Thumb Farm Service Inc. in 1971 with grain elevators in Port Hope, Ubly, and Ruth. Kay was the secretary/treasurer for Thumb Farm Service for over 40 years. Kay was a member of the Port Hope United Methodist Church, the Port Hope United Methodist Women, where she served as the treasurer for many years, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Grindstone Port Hope Sportsmen Club, the Port Hope Chamber of Commerce, and the Port Hope Community School PTA. Kay and Harold moved to Florida for over 30 years, spending much of their time in Zephyrhills, Florida, where they made some amazing friends.
