Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11am. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be Fr. Rob Howe, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Friday from 1-8pm or Saturday at the church from 10am until the service time at 11qam. A scripture service will be offered Friday at 7pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Courtney Manor Nursing Home.
Surviving: 2 daughters-Cheryl (Robert) Ross of Harrison, MI., Carol (Theodore) Polk of Filion , MI. 1 daughter-in-law: Maggie McQueen (Duane) Roggenbuck of Snover. 1 sister, Carmen J. (Lloyd) Marks of Rose City. 1 sister-in-law: Catherine Fox King. 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild on the way. Several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by a son: Donald James McQueen, a sister: Dr. Crystal M. Lange and her husband Elmer "Ike" Lange. 1 sister-in-law: Sarah Jane Bullis and her husband Clayton. 3 brothers-in-law: Milton Fox, Gerald King and William McQueen and his wife, Marion.
She was born on December 8, 1928 in Snover, MI. the daughter of the late Bazil H. and Crystal Shirl (Hilborn) Morse. She was united in marriage to Donald A. McQueen on December 27, 1946 in Marlette, MI. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2011. Edith was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, where she served as a Lector and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion for several years as well as the president of the Liturgy Commission and was a past President of the Parish Council. Edith excelled at china painting and ceramics, loved sewing, quilting, count cross stitch and was an avid reader and bridge player. Her latest hobby was "playing" with her computer. Edith was employed by the State Of Michigan for over 26 years, starting with the Michigan Employment Security Commission and transferring in 1968 to the then known as Huron County Department of Social Services. In June of 1983 she retired, and she and her husband, Donald wintered in Harlington, Texas.
