Services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11am at the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Tousley, pastor. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Friday from 3-8pm. or Saturday at the church from 10am. until the service time at 11am.
Suviving are his wife, Ann Sams of Bad Axe. 2 sons, Ken (Shannon) Sams of Traverse City and Alan Sams of Bad Axe. 2 daughters, Donna Gross of Essexville and Sandy Sams of Bad Axe. 1 stepson, Eugene (Jennifer) Anson of Dearborn. 3 stepdaughters, Inex LeTarte of Port Huron, Brenda (Jerome) Primer of North Carolina and Anita (Tom) Schumacher of Harbor Beach. 1 brother, Donald Sams of Shelby Township. 5 sisters, Marge (Bill) Hoops of Archibold, OH, Marilyn Hill of Warren, Dorothy Reinke of Elkton, Jean (Melvin) Gingrich of Bad Axe and Jane Kinney of Lexington, KY. 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandhildren
Edwin Sams, age 81 of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at his home. He was born on December 19, 1931 in Meade Township, son of the late Lawrence and Martha (Bredow) Sams. He married Shirley Jean Kinney on August 1, 1953. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2004. He married Ann Tovey-Anson on February 12, 2005. Ed was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Bad Axe for 29 years. He was an avid camper, a coach for the Bad Axe Little League, and was active in Boy Scouts of America, serving as district commissioner.
