A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11am. at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church - Holy Name of Mary Parish. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Thursday from 1-8pm. or Friday at the church from 10am. until the service time at 11am. Memorials may be offered to the Sigel Township Fire Department or the East Huron Ambulance.
Surviving are his wife: Arlene Kanaski of Bad Axe. A daughter; Mari Ann (Paul) Lemke of Ubly. 3 sons; John (Margie) Kanaski Jr. of Elkton, Brian (Josette) Kanaski of Verona, Jeffery (Kathy) Kanaski of Bad Axe. 2 Brothers; Sylvester (Sue) Kanaski of Filion and Frank (Marie) Kanaski of Filion. 6 grandchildren; Rebecca (Roman) Salazar of Pembroke Pines, FL., Jeremy (Kayla) Roggenbuck of Harbor Beach. Alex Kanaski and special friend Tori Kluger of Verona, Nicholas Kanaski of Verona, Aeryn Eichler of Bad Axe and Calvin Kanaski of Bad Axe. 2 great grandchildren; Emma and Claire Roggenbuck of Harbor Beach.
John Kanaski Sr., age 79 of Bad Axe, passed away on Monday, November 18,2013 at McLaren Hospital of Bay City. He was born on June 26, 1934 in Kinde, MI., son of the late Floyd and Agnes (Jimkowski) Kanaski. He married Arlene Elliott on December 3, 1955 in POrt Hope, MI. John was employed as a supervisor at Active Industries in Elkton before his retirement. He also worked for Ubly Motor Sales, the Michigan Sugar Piling Grounds in Verona, and cut the lawn at Verona Schools for several years. He enjoyed being a self employed mechanic and painter, and quilting and sewing as a hobby. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loving family and his faithful dog, Casper.
