Burial will be at Acacia Park Cemetery, Beverly Hills. Memorials may be made to Caseville United Methodist Church or the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital-Child and Family Life Program for Children with Cancer. She is survived by her children, Bradley Lackie, Kevin (Donna) Lackie, and Earl Lackie; grandchildren, Devon Hoover, Allison and Amy Lackie, Katie (Eric) Hammarlund, and Elizabeth Lackie; great-grandchildren, Abbot and Isabelle Hoover, Collin Duncan, Layne Honorowski, Megan Danforth, and Zach, Cole, and Peyton Hammarlund; and sister, Patricia (Richard) Robertson.
> Helen Joyce Lackie, 86 of Caseville, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at home. > > She was born on August 19, 1927 to Clifton and Freda (Chappel) Richmond, and was raised by her grandparents, Louise and John Chappel for 14 years. In 1942 Joyce lived with her father and stepmother Luella Richmond. She attended Pinnebog School through ninth grade and went to Pigeon High School to finish high school. She then attended Bay City Junior College for her associates degree in science. She received her BSN in 1950 from the University of Michigan, AnnArbor. > > On October 21, 1950 she married Chester William Lackie at the First United Methodist Church, Pigeon. He died January 28, 1994. > > Joyce worked at Alexander Blain Hospital as an O.R. Nurse. After her children were in school, she taught nursing for 18 years at Henry Ford Community College. The couple retired to Rochester Hills until 1986 when they moved to Caseville. Joyce was a member of Caseville United Methodist Church, where she taught adult Sunday school and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Caseville Library Club, the Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary, and the Caseville Historical Society.
