Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Friday, October 10, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of St. Hubert Parish in Bad Axe. Rev. Robert Howe, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Most Holy Trinity Cemetery in Smith Corners. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am Friday, October 10 at Sacred Heart Church only. Family of the Deceased

John is survived by two brothers, Carl Schmidt and his wife, Joan of Fallbrook, CA, James Schmidt and his wife, Irene of Ubly; one sister, Helen Decker and her husband, Lon, of Escondido, CA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Bernard, Clements, Francis, Simon and Gerald Schmidt; one sister, Evelyn Heilig and her husband, Joseph; one nephew, Charles Heilig.

Biography

Mr. John E. Schmidt (Schmitt) 79 of Bad Axe, formerly of Smith Corners, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Huron Medical Center of Bad Axe. John was born on May 25, 1935 in Bad Axe to the late John P. and Frances (Helewski) Schmidt. John attended the Maurer Country School. He then farmed with his family. John was a lifelong parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. He always had a story to tell and enjoyed telling anyone who would listen.
