Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the MacAlpine Mac Chapel in Bad Axe with Pastor Henry Hales officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Monday, 10-11 a.m. at the Mac Chapel, Bad Axe. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or Parkinson’s Foundation. Condolences may be shared at www.macalpinefuneralhome.com.

Alfred is survived by his son, Donald J. (Lois) Liedke, of Filion; two daughters, Carol A. (Jack) Ellsworth of Columbia City, Indiana and Eileen J. (Robert) Johnson of Filion; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Liedke of Bradenton, FL. and Robert (Betty) Liedke of Caseville; two sisters, Evelyn Harris of Bradenton FL. and Colleen Krueger of Harbor Beach. Two sisters in-law, Esther Zick and Evelyn Zick of Harbor Beach. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther on November 5, 2006. His sister, Phyllis (Arthur) Clark and sister in-law Mary Liedke; brothers in-law, Clayton Hiller, Donald Harris and Raymond Krueger;

Biography

Alfred James Liedke, 94, former resident of Port Hope, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe after a long illness. He was born November 22, 1920 in Harbor Beach to the late Frederick O. and Nellie Mae (Bruce) Liedke. Alfred was united in marriage to Esther O. Zick on June 12, 1943 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield Township. He was a farmer until his retirement and moved to Harbor Beach. He was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Hope. Alfred was a 4-H leader for many years, a church elder and a board member of the Davidson School. He was an avid card player and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
