Funeral Information

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. Michael’s of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Port Austin. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday at the Knoblock Funeral Home and from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the church. There will be a rosary at the Funeral Home on Friday at 7:00 am. The family requests donations to St. Michael’s Church in lieu of flowers

He is survived by his wife, Delphine; his daughters, Colleen (Larry) Krohn of Elkton, and Dr. Marlene (Mark) Mullin of Troy; his grandchildren, Charles (Bronwyn) Krohn, Grand Rapids and Jennifer Krohn, Royal Oak: his great-grandchildren, Maya and Mason Krohn of Grand Rapids; his sister, Jennie Barker of Allen Park and several nieces and nephews.

Biography

Walter F. Karsmarski, 91, of Port Austin died Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Walter was born March 22, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Stanley and Helen (Brzek) Karsmarski. Walter and Delphine Lerash were married November 22, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dwight Township. He was employed by the Huron County Road Commission where he retired as the foreman of the Kinde Division. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the US Army. Walter was a S. SGT. His duties consisted of being a squad leader. He participated in two major battles, earning the Presidential Citation and the Purple Heart. Walter was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the American Legion, Frank Horetski Post 499 of Port Austin. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, doing metal work in his shop and he was an avid birdwatcher. Walter had an unconditional love for his family, for God and for his Country.
