Funeral service for Eva will be 1 pm on Thursday, October 29th at the First Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe with Rev. William O’Nan officiating. Burial will be at Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 8 pm on Wednesday, October 28th at the MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and at the church 12 noon until time of service on Thursday, October 29th. Eva is survived by her daughters: Gloria (Michael) Dryer of Lake City, Michigan and Carol (David) Harris of East Jordan, Michigan; grandchildren: Leslie (Scott) Edison, Matthew (Catherine) Dryer, Dr. David (Elizabeth Montague) Harris and Kristina Harris; great grandchildren: Stachia & Krista Broadway, Bailey and Shannon Edison, Charles and Field Harris and Alannah Dryer; many nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Morgan Ballagh, Marguerite Thompson, William Ballagh, Ralph Ballagh, Gladys Sommerville, Russell Ballagh and an infant sister, Edith Ballagh.

Biography

Eva Mae Blaylock, age 100, of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2015, at Huron County Medical Care Facility under hospice care. Eva was born in Bad Axe on October 1, 1915, to the late John and Maude (McIllmurray) Ballagh. On September 14, 1940, she married William John Blaylock. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1997. Eva was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe. She was a hostess at the Morrow Hotel. Eva enjoyed bowling, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, fishing with her husband; she loved being outdoors and was a big Detroit Tigers fan.
