It was Herb’s wishes to not have a funeral showing. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 11 am. at Good Shepherd Parish-St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 am. until the service time at 11 am. Memorials may be offered to the American Heart Association. Herb is survived by his wife: Bernadine Janowiak of Bad Axe. Son-Matthew (Elizabeth) Janowiak of Clarksburg, MD. Daughter-Faye (Richard III) Miller of Northville. Sister-Marie Oleksiak of Livonia. Sister-in-law-Madalyn Janowiak of Livonia.4 Grandchildren- Alexandra Janowiak of Clarksburg, MD. Madeline Haynes of Clarksburg, MD. Richard Miller IV of Northville. Caleb Haynes of Clarksburg, MD. Several nieces and nephews. Herb was predeceased by: 4 brothers-Clem, Eugene, Arthur and Irvin Janowiak.2 sisters-Irene Kowalski and Eleanor Smith. His in-laws – Alexander and Virginia (Grifka) Fligger. brother-in-laws – Elmer and Bob Fligger.

Biography

Herbert (Herb) Janowiak, age 89, of Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Bay McLaren Hospital in Bay City, surrounded by his family. Herb was born on August 8, 1926, in Austin Township, son of the late Albert and Anna (Pelot) Janowiak. Herb married Bernadine (Bernie) Fligger on October 3, 1964, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Smith Corners in Bad Axe. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean conflict. Herb owned a milk hauling business, serving Nestles and eventually Michigan Milk, from the late 1940s through the 1960s. He was the proprietor of Herb’s Huron Inn hotel, restaurant, and bar in Ubly from 1960-71. Herb was also a bus driver for Ubly Community Schools, while simultaneously farming, until retirement.
