Funeral Information

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service for Gary will be Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of the Holy Apostles Parish. Friends may gather at the church beginning at 12 pm until time of services at 1 pm. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Family of the Deceased

He is survived by his wife Catherine Slater of Harbor Beach, and children: Christopher Slater and his friend Janie Crandell and ex wife Rebecca Slater of Paw Paw, Darcy Goniwicha and her husband Daniel of Decker, Carey Slater and his wife Esther of Snover, Trissa Slater of Detroit, and Tanya MacDonald of Detroit, 9 grandchildren: Katlyn & Kyle Slater, Jonathan & Jesse Goniwicha, Justin Slater, Amber & Brian Hagedon, Riley & Julian MacDonald, and siblings: Ken Slater and his wife Elda of Grayling, David Slater and his wife Donna of Newberry, Gloria Slater of Port Sanilac, and Jim Slater and his wife Joyce of Harbor Beach. He was preceded in death by a grandchild Joshua Goniwicha, and sister Joyce Minke.

Biography

He was born on June 1, 1950 in Sandusky to the late Raymond and Pauline (Cummings) Slater. Gary and Catherine Booms were united in marriage on June 28, 1969 in Ruth. Gary was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, of the Holy Apostles Parish. He owned and operated the Gary Slater Tractor Repair and Salvage for 35 years. Gary also enjoyed playing softball.
