Funeral Information

Funeral mass for Archie will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, of the Holy Name of Mary Parish, with Fr. William Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the OLLH Church Cemetery. Visitation for Archie will be Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 2-8pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church beginning at 10 am until time of services at 11 am. Military Honors will be given in Archie’s Honor at the cemetery. A White Clover Ceremony will take place Tuesday at 7pm at the funeral home, and a Parish Vigil Service will take place at 7:30pm Tuesday also at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Mendalski of Port Hope, and children: Linda Bogumil of Walled Lake, Archie A. Mendalski and his wife Antoinette of Hamtramck, Donna Parler of Detroit, and Tara Mendalski of Cottrellville, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Archie was preceded in death by 3 daughters: Cynthia, Anette and Kenneth Mendalski, and a sister Esther Shagena.

Biography

ARCHIE J. MENDALSKI, age 87 of Port Hope, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born on January 29, 1928 in Harbor Beach to the late Joseph and Theresa (Grates) Mendalski. Archie served in the US Army, during World War II, in the Philippines. Archie and Mary Lou Brining were united in marriage on April 22, 1950 in Detroit. He worked for General Motors for 37 years, retiring in 1991. Archie was a member of the AmVets Post 115 of Port Hope, the American Legion Post 197, and the VFW Post 9344. He was also a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, and the Port Hope Grindstone Sportsman Club. He enjoyed playing in the pool League and the shuffleboard league.
