Funeral Information

Visitation will be 10 am until noon at the MacAlpine Mac Chapel in Bad Axe on Friday, February 19th. Funeral service will be at noon with Rev. William Cleland officiating. Eugene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette; sons: Dallas of Bad Axe and son Ronald of Capac; granddaughters Gabrielle Allen of Littleton, Colorado, Meghan Rooney of Denver, Colorado, and Heather Rooney of Bad Axe; great grandson, Kaleb Allen; sister Clair Thomas of Farmington Hills; and brother Leroy Rooney of Bad Axe. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Rooney of Bad Axe.

Biography

Eugene H. Rooney, 79, died February 15, 2016 in Shelby Township, Michigan after a short illness. He was born on September 11, 1936 to the late Earl Rooney, Sr. and Lorene (Chape). Gene was a 1955 graduate of Ubly High School. He was a 50 year member of Plumber’s Local 98 of Detroit, a retired Plumbing Contractor, Licensed Builder, and owned and managed apartment complexes. Eugene was an avid gardener and farm tractor enthusiast. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends and he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone. He was united in marriage on January 10, 1959 to Jeanette P. Lawson.
