Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 4 at Good Shepherd Parish, St. John Catholic Church of Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammond pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Monday from 2:00-8:00 pm and Monday at St. John Church from 10:00 am until the Mass at 11:00 am. The Ubly Fox Hunters and Bingham Township Fire Department will honor Jerry together on Monday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Arlene of Ubly; three children, Edward and his wife, Carmen of Lake, MI, Doreen Zulauf and her husband Jim, of Ubly, Leonard and his wife, Jane of Ubly; five grandchildren, Scott (Vanessa) Longuski, Jeffrey (Liza) Zulauf, Keith Longuski, Jenna (Justin) Findlay, Paul (Emilee) Longuski; 6 great grandchildren, Jerome, Graham, Jack, Penelope, Ellerie, Jude; one brother, Lawrence Longuski of Ubly; two sisters, Beatrice Rutkowski of Westland, Gertrude (Chet) Fudala of Troy; two sisters-in-law, MaryAnna Longuski of Peck, Mary Jane Longuski of Ubly; many nieces, nephews and great friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Marvin.
Jerome “Jerry” Longuski, 82 of Ubly, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe after a short illness. He was born on May 11, 1934 at home in Bingham Township to the late Leo and Victoria (Warchock) Longuski. He married Arlene Lamke on June 25, 1955 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Jerry worked with his brothers building silos for Longuski Silo Company. He then worked for and retired from Saginaw Asphalt Company after 37 years of employment. In 1964, Jerry was one of the founding members of the Ubly Fox Hunters and held the position of President in 1968 and 1969. He was very active in the Hunters Safety course for the youth of the community. He enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Newberry. Jerry loved to fish, hunt and tell hunting stories. He also tinkered with crafting wood projects.
