Funeral Information

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15 at the Community Wesleyan Church. Rev. Ean Green, pastor and Rev. William O’nan will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Friday and at the church after 10 AM Saturday. Memorials may be given to either church or the donor’s choice and words of condolence may be shared at www.cfcelkton.com

Family of the Deceased

Surviving are children, James Ewald and Judy Ewald both of Elkton and Dennis and Beverly Herford of Caseville; grandchildren Shannon (Dorelly) Herford and Hayley (Jonathan) Leaf; great grandchildren, Hannah and Sofia; a brother, Richard Fritz of Elkton; sisters-in-law, Leona Fritz of Elkton, Joyce Fritz of Zepherhills, FL and Maida Fuller of Sebewaing; many nieces and nephews and her special little dog, Elli. Preceding her in death were seven brothers, Norman Leonard, Matt, Otis, Wallace, Willard and Calvin and two sisters, Aldine Ewald and Verneta Schuster.

Biography

Luella S. Ewald age 95, lifelong resident of Elkton, passed away Tuesday evening, October 11, at her home while under hospice care. She was born June 26, 1921 in Brookfield Twp at the home of her parents the late Charles and Louise (Steinman) Fritz. On August 28, 1943, she was united in marriage to Arnold J Ewald at the Owendale Evangelical United Brethren Church and made their home on a farm east of Elkton. Arnold preceded her in death on June 30, 1972. Luella was an ambitious person, working with her husband on the farm. She also worked for Reilly Quinn and Ken Ginter in their Winding Shop rewinding electric motors for several years. From there, she was employed by the school as a cook. Later on in life she baby sat for many different families around Elkton. She was a longtime member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and attended the Community Wesleyan Church as well.
