Visitation will be Friday, November 5, 2016, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home from 2-8pm. The funeral will be Saturday, November 6, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, with Rev. Michael Boyer and Rev. David Reed officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. The committal prayers will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery and under auspices of Sebewaing American Legion Post # 293 and Sebewaing VFW Post # 4115. Tom is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Krista (Steve) Hinderer of Lake Orion and son, Scott Jahr of Rochester Hills; grandchildren: Macey, Max and Micah Hinderer; siblings: twin sister, Jeri (Bill) Burley of Plymouth, brother, Stuart (Dawn) Jahr of Bay City, and sister, Kathy Bolger of Brighton; brother-in-law, Roger (Arlene) Bachman of Lakeview and many nieces and nephews. Preceded him in death were his parents, Thomas E. Jahr, Sr. and Lorraine (Rievert) Jahr; brother-in-law, Barry C. Bolger; nephew, Chas Burley; and mother-in-law, Mable B. Gremel.
Thomas E. Jahr, Jr., age 69, of Sebewaing, passed away November 1, 2016, at Bay County Medical Care Facility in Essexville, following a 7 week illness. Tom was born on July 8, 1947 (along with his twin sister, Jeri) to Thomas E. Jahr, Sr. and Lorraine (Rievert) Jahr in Pigeon, MI. Tom graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1965 and enlisted in the US Navy. He served abourd the USS Bennington during the Vietnam War. He married Joyce E. Bachman on June 19, 1971, in Sebewaing. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and VFW Post #4115 in Sebewaing. He worked at Saginaw Steering Gear and Delphi for 36 years before retiring in 2006. He then worked for his best friend, Warren Juengel at Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home. He was currently employed at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing. He took pride in providing comfort and service to families in their time of sorrow. Tom was a quiet and gentle man who loved the Lord and his family deeply. He enjoyed being with family, friends, and loved taking bike rides with his grandchildren who brought him so much happiness. We were so blessed to have him with us.
