He is survived by his wife Bea; children Debra (Dennis) Rank of Oakland Twp, Gary (Joy) of East China, Sandy Monette of Caseville and Lori (Kevin) McCoy of Rochester Hills; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters Noreen Prior of St. Clair and Judie Schmitz of Algonac. He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty and Shirley; and son-in-law Dennis Monette.
Harold N. Schmitz, 88, of Caseville, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care. Harold was born April 6, 1928 in Detroit to the late Norman and Celina (Claeys) Schmitz. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. On January 12, 1952 he married Bertha Oles at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Smiths Creek. He owned and operated Schmitz Sunoco in Richmond until retiring in 1985. He moved to Caseville in 1992. He enjoyed woodworking, antique cars and putzing in his garage.
