Biography

Sidney John Francis Elliott age 89, of Caseville, MI went home to the Lord he loved, Friday evening, November 25, following a massive heart attack. He was born November 9, 1927 in Detroit to the late Sidney and Laura (Wright) Elliott. Sid grew up in Detroit and graduated from Northwestern High School. Shortly after high school, he began work at SS Kresge. Shortly thereafter, he was inducted as a Staff Sargent into the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. When he came home from the military, he returned to his job at Kresge’s. On November 26, 1960, he was united in marriage to Georgina Pessano at St. Andrew’s Memorial Episcopal Church, Detroit, where they had met as members of the church’s youth group. They then raised their family in Detroit. In 1964, he left Kresge’s and went to General Electric, giving them 26 years, retiring in 1990. A couple of years later they moved to Caseville to enjoy their retirement. Sid was a man of faith; he had been a member of St. Andrew’s, Detroit, MI all his life and moved his membership to St. John’s Episcopal on Sand Point, MI when he retired. He was also a member of the Caseville American Legion, the Caseville Eagles and the Old Gezzer’s Club. He enjoyed music, reciting poetry, telling jokes, gardening, never missed Lawrence Welk, was a ruthless Tiger fan, and going to and meeting friends at Walt’s. Earlier on, he loved camping and campfires with family.
