Funeral Information

Services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11 am at the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Sutton. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 1 – 8 pm or Friday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. Gene is survived by: Wife – Nancy Gainor of Bad Axe. 3 Sons – Douglas (Bonnie) Gainor of Bad Axe, Wayne (Debbi) Gainor of Bad Axe and Craig (Jennifer) Gainor of White Lake. 2 Daughters – Patricia (David) Stokan II of Bad Axe and Tina (Dutch) Seley of Elkton 4 Step cildren: Robert, LuAnn, Charles, Bryan. 1 Sister- Agnes Eichorst 11 Grandchildren – Jackie, Douglas Jr., Danielle, Derek, Wayne David, Michael, Cody, Shane, KayLee, Shawna, Britnee, 2 great grandchildren: London and Adalyn. 10 step grandchildren, and 13 step great grandchildren Gene was preceded in death by his siblings: Samuel Gainor, Faye Sherman, Ruby Vaughan, Ellen Thorsen, Mary Dobson. Biography

Scyrian “Gene” Gainor, age 95, of Bad Axe, passed away with his family by his side on Monday December 4, 2017. Gene was born in Harbor Beach on August 1, 1922, son of the late Scyrian and Agnes (Moriarity) Gainor. He married Dorothy Koss and she proceeded him in death. He married Nancy (Schmidt) Arnott in September of 1961. Gene was raised and work on the family farm in Bloomfield Twp in Huron County until 1957 when he became the owner and operator of Gainor's Meat Packing in Bad Axe, MI. He worked side by side with his wife and children for 60 years in the family business. Gene was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. He dedicated himself to his family and enjoyed meeting new people who quickly became friends.
