Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Friday, December 15 at St. John Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly, Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday from 2:30-9 pm and Friday form 9:00-10:00 am. There will be a parish vigil service Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund. Marie is survived by one daughter, Tina Olshove of Flint; two sons, Darrell (Virginia) VankyGrifka of St. Louis, MO, David (Denise) Grifka of Ubly; 10 grandchildren, Nichole DeAguero, Adam (Kayla) Olshove and Mason (Claudia) Olshove, Jenna Grifka, Jamie (Matthew) Booms, Jerry and Grace Grifka, Aidan, Drew and Reann VankyGrifka; two great grandchildren, Aubrianna Olshove and Claira DeAguero; one brother, Michael (Linda) Rumptz of Ubly; five sisters, Joan Jackson of Ubly, Linda (Tony) Tittjung of Sterling Heights, Virginia (Richard) Bukowski of Lake Orion, Susan Mergl of Shelby Twp., Deborah (Donald) Kulish of Shelby Twp.; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Marie was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Grifka; one brother, Edward Rumptz, one sister, Patricia Adams; two brothers-in-law, Luther Adams and Robert Jackson.
Marie A. Grifka, 75 of Ubly, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2017 at her home. Marie was born on August 22, 1942 in Ubly to Vivian (Leppek) Rumptz and the late Clarence Rumptz. She married Jerry Grifka on January 9, 1965 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2001. Marie was a 1960 graduate of Ubly High School. She worked at General Cable in Cass City. She also worked for the banks in Minden City and Ubly. Marie worked very hard on the farm next to her dearest husband, Jerry. She enjoyed camping, bowling and she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
