Mass of Christian burial for Joyce will be 11:00 am, Monday October 22 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth. Rev. Christopher Coman, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 pm and Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth from 10:00-10:45 am. Memorials have been requested to Grace Hospice of Maryville. Please make donations to Joyce’s family c/o Lynn Kappel. Joyce is survived by her children, Gary (Kris) Gentner of Ubly, Lynn (Dale) Kappel of TN, Sherry (John) Seppo of Port Huron, Shelly (Dana) Crowley of Sycamore, IL, Jay Gentner of Minden City, Terry Gentner of Sandusky, Jeffrey Gentner of Emmett, Crystal (Michael) Oswald of Richmond; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Pauline (Ron) Smarch of Marysville. Joyce was preceded in death by one son, Lanny; one granddaughter, Laura Gentner; one great granddaughter, Ruby Hendrickson; two sisters Virginia Mazure and Sharon Torello.
Mrs. Joyce E. Gentner, 92 of Port Sanilac and formerly of Harbor Beach, passed away Friday morning, October 19, 2018 at Carol’s Adult Foster Care Home in Port Sanilac. She was born on December 9, 1925 in Detroit to the late Roman and Grace (Wehner) Dropiewski. She married Joseph Gentner on June 5, 1948 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helena. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2004. Joyce was a graduate of the Helena Country School. She farmed with her husband for years before taking a job at Hamill Seatbelt factory for 12 years. Joyce was also an Aide at Deckerville Community Hospital for 8 years before she retired to enjoy life. Joyce was a former parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth and a current parishioner of St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in Forestville. She enjoyed baking, playing cards and dancing.
