Funeral Information

Mass of Christian burial for Violet Brown, will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, MI with Fr. Rob Howe officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe, MI and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. She is survived by her children:  Nancy (Ed) Walker of Bad Axe; daughter-in-law Nancy Brown of Estes Park, CO; Linda (Alan) Shunn of Holt; Ed Brown of Traverse City; Bill (Janet) Brown of Estes Park, CO; Pat Brown of Holt; Bob Brown of Bad Axe; Jane (Patrick) DiGregorio of Keswick, VA; Cathy (Lou) Cummings of Mount Pleasant, MI; Wendy (Joe) Callewaert of Wilmington, OH and Julie (James) Netzley of Cadillac, MI. She is survived by her grandchildren:  Tammy (Mike) Hruska, Todd (Chelsea) Walker, Terri (Chad) Maurer; Joe Brown, Emily (Quinn) Lizotte;  Michael (Stacie) Shunn, Suzanne Shunn; Tylor (Stephanie) Orme, Claire Orme; Aaron, Nathan, Zach DiGregorio; Ryan, Eric, Katie Cummings; Joseph, Jonathan, Jennifer Callewaert; Jessica, Alex Netzley. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Dan Brown, and her granddaughter Sarah Orme.  She was also preceded in death by 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Biography

Violet (Vi) Brown, age 91, of Bad Axe, MI passed away on October 28, 2018 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living Home in Bad Axe. Violet was born December 30, 1926 in Sheridan Township, MI to the late Bertha and Donald McIntosh.  Violet graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1944. She attended the Cadet Nursing Corps, graduating from Saint Mary’s School of Nursing in Saginaw, MI in 1947. On April 22, 1950, Violet married Calvin Brown in Bad Axe.  Together they raised 11 children. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2018. Violet worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years.  She began at Hubbard Hospital in Bad Axe in January 1948 and worked there until her retirement from Huron Memorial Hospital in January 1989. Violet enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church/Saint Hubert Parish in Bad Axe.
