Funeral Information

Funeral service for Arlene will be 11 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Kenneth Lueke officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Verona Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe and at the church on Friday, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Family of the Deceased

Arlene is survived by her sons: Milton Jurgess, Fred Jurgess, and Lavern Jurgess, all from Harbor Beach; her brother, Ronald Koglin and his wife, Rosemary, of Port Huron; and her sister: Geraldine Koth of Filion. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Pat Koglin of Port Huron and Joyce Koglin of Port Hope; her brother-in-law: Alex Burkhard; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Jurgess; her brothers: Marvin and Junior Koglin; her sister: Virginia Finkel; her sister-in-law: Donna Burkhard and her brothers-in-law: Norman Finkel and Merle Koth.

Biography

Arlene V. Jurgess, 91, of Sigel Township, Huron County, passed away on November 26, 2018 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Arlene was born in Port Hope, Michigan on December 29, 1926 to the late Gustave “Gust” and Adeline “Lena” (Eggert) Koglin. On February 28, 1948, she married the love of her life, Fred A. Jurgess at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Hope. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1996. Arlene was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe. She and her husband, Fred, farmed at the family farm in Sigel Township until Fred retired in 1987. Arlene enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.
