Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, November 26th at Cross Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 Monday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday at church.

He is survived by his sons Randy (Cindy) and Kevin (Lisa Stiles), both of Pigeon; granddaughter Lisa (John) McCain; grandsons Jeffrey (Kimberly), Blaine, Kyle (Nicole), and Corbin (Hillary) Buchholz; great-grandchildren Connor, Carson, Grant, Wyatt, Jameson, Everett, Joel, Mya and Oliver; sisters Dorothy Henne of Bay Port and Elaine (Glen) Watterworth of Sterling Heights; brother Ernest (Sharon) Buchholz of Elkton; and sister-in-law Inez Buchholz of Elkton. He was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Blome and Beatrice Deering and brother Clarence.

Biography

Raymond A. Buchholz, 91, of Pigeon, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care in Pigeon. Ray was born February 4, 1928 in Oliver Twp to the late Ernest and Marie (Wurst) Buchholz Sr. He married Elaine Hornbacher February 2, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing; she preceded him in death April 30, 2015. Ray was raised on his family’s farm and after completing 8th grade went to work full time farming. He transitioned from farming to working with Michigan Sugar, forming Buchholz Trucking in the early 1960's, which is still a family owned business. Over his 5 decades in trucking he continued working with Michigan Sugar and hauling other agricultural commodities to local elevators. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church. He enjoyed NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr., and sharing a donut with anyone he met.
