Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Reverend Fred Becknell officiating. The family will receive visitors from 3-7 PM Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette and from 10 AM until the time of Service Wednesday, December 29, 2021. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held on Tuesday evening beginning at 7 PM. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution in Janice’s memory may direct them to the Lamotte Missionary Church of Marlette, MI. Jan is survived by her loving spouse of 61 years, Edward Gordon Herron; children, William (Ann) Herron, Juanna (Bradley) Parker, Jana (Thomas) Smith-Gierke, and Launce (Andrea) Herron; grandchildren, Edward (Kara) Herron, Janson (Taylor) Parker, Jourdan Parker, Erica (Cody) Irvine, Ethan Herron, Keegan Herron, Landan Herron and Zane Smith; great-grandchildren, Nova and Everly Herron and Annabelle Irvine; siblings, Jack (Nancy) Gierman; sisters-in-law, Janice Gierman and Betty Herron; nieces and nephews, Joe (Colleen) Gierman, Jason (Jennifer) Gierman, Julie (Jim) Luginbill, Cory Gierman, Amy (Chad) Baldwin, Betsy Herron, Lori (John) Herman and Ann (Mike) Harding; special friends, Reverend Fred (Glenice) Becknell, Gary (Karen) Hood, Dean (Barb) Rockwell, Wendell Shier, Joann, Kay Roth, Paul McKee, Larry (Sharon) Archard, Mary Lou Prowse, Al (Denise) Mitchell, Pat Chard, Chuck and Alice, Sally Brown, the Caseville Red Hat sisters; as well as many friends and neighbors of Oak Beach; and last, but not least, Jan’s beloved furry companion poodles, Pepperoni, Mozzarella and Pizza Baby. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, William and Virginia Gierman; brother, James Gierman; aunt, Marge Orcutt; and son-in-law, Bryan Smith.

Biography

Celebrating the life of Mrs. Janice Mae Herron, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Jan, formerly of Marlette, retired on the lake of Oak Beach area. Janice Mae Herron passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2021 after she had taken a fall in November. Daughter of William and Virginia Gierman, Janice was born August 18, 1941 in Cass City, Michigan and she was a graduate of Marlette High School with the class of 1959. Jan married the love of her life, Edward Gordon Herron on May 21, 1960. Originator of Beagio’s Pizza, J & S Catering and Wig Um House & Beauty Salon, Jan was always hard at work. She was also a member of the Lamotte Missionary Church and a devoted member of the FOE 3690 Women’s Auxiliary of Caseville, “Queen Mother” of the Caseville Red Hat Hippers and The Croswell OES 236. Above all, Jan was a friend of all. Wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was loved by everyone she knew. She loved tending to her flowers, watching sunsets at the lake, making delicious homemade wine, shopping, baking, spending time with family and friends, dressing to the nines, as well as decorating. The more “razzel-dazzel”, the happier she was!
