Dennis Michael Gottschalk, 71 years old of Port Austin, passed away at home on Wednesday April 5, 2023 with his daughters by his side. Dennis was born on January 22, 1952 to the late Daniel and Alice (Lerash) Gottschalk. He married Julie Wiese on June 15, 1974. They were married for 47 years before she preceded him in death on April 16, 2022. Dennis was a devoted husband and friend to his wife Julie, as they loved to spend time together, and never leaving her side during her illness and final days. Dennis received his journeyman’s card from Bay City Central and worked at Tower Automotive for 45 years before retiring in 2017, as a machine repair machinest. He was an avid golfer, and was on the Bird Creek Men’s League on Monday evenings, and golfed with The Rusty Zippers on Wednesday mornings. He served on the North Huron school board for many years as President, and often he and Julie would spend time at the American Legion Post 499 visiting with friends. On summer afternoons, he and Julie could often be found in the swimming pool with their grandchildren. Dennis was fondly known for having the cleanest vehicles in town.
