Bert is survived by his children Jennifer (James) Stuby of Franklin, Tennessee, Jill (Thomas) Mellen of Holt, and Jonathan (Gayle) Beadle of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Jamie Crosslin, John (Kelly) Mellen, Matthew Mellen, Alison (Ryan) DeClercq, Marissa, Laura and Nicolas Beadle; 6 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Gloria Beadle of Caseville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey, and all of his siblings.
Bert was born June 6, 1925 in Caseville to the late Darling and Frances (Nicklas) Beadle. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1943. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Bert married Lorraine Fluegge October 14, 1950 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne; she preceded him in death on September 27, 2005. He was the owner of Bert Beadle and Sons Excavating, retiring in 2003. He was an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne where he served in various church positions and was instrumental in the church’s renovation. He was active in the community, having served on Caseville Village Council and Village President, Caseville Fire Department (Chief), and Caseville American Legion (75-year member).
