Mass of Christian burial for Jim will be held on Saturday July 29, 2023 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church/ Good Shepherd Parish, at 11:00 AM, with Fr. Nate Harburg officiating, with burial to follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Church/ Freiburg Cemetery. Jim is survived by his sister Arlene (Mark)Day, nieces; Sue (Gary) Osminski, Carol (Brent) McDaniel, Judy Smith and many great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Zmich, and sisters in law Evelyn Zmich and Catherine Zmich

Biography

James “Jim” Zmich, 82 years old of Ubly and Pigeon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon. Jim was born to the late Joseph and Agnes (Kulish) Zmich on April 14, 1941. Jim was a lifelong dairy and crop farmer in Austin Township. He was a member of Knights of Columbus council 1546 in Bad Axe for 64 years, having joined in 1959. He was very proud of his ability to play the organ and played at St. Ignatius Catholic Church for 40 years. Jim loved to tinker making mechanical objects out of bits and pieces. He enjoyed picture puzzles and any other kind of puzzles he could get his hands on.
