Mary Jane (Janie) Martinez, age 78, of Bad Axe, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 with her children by her side. Janie was born on June 9, 1945 in Marquette, MI, daughter of the late Wilbert and Carabelle (Smith) Eisinger. Janie graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1963. She married Guadalupe (Lupe) Martinez on April 17,1965. Janie held many occupations over the years ranging from factory work at the old "Seat Belt" in Bad Axe to retail work at Norman's and later retiring from Bad Axe Walmart. Janie had an imagination that surprised all those close to her especially her children and closest friends. She was an expert of making much out of little to nothing. She enjoyed sewing and making Halloween and Christmas costumes for not only herself but family members, card boxes for weddings and graduations, cooking, doing word searches and was a collector of many things. She loved spending time with her family and friends no matter the function. One of her passions was dancing and she could always be found on the dance floor with friends and family wherever there was music. Her children and grandchildren were her life and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.
