A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at lpm at St Hubert Parish - Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be Fr. T.J. Fleming. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct 12, 2023 from 3-8pm at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe or Friday at the church from 12 noon until the service time at lpm. A Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be offered at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Georgeana's family would like to thank Meadow Lane Staff and Compassus Caregivers for their wonderful care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to their discretionary fund. She is survived by one sister, Andrea Piotrowski, and her sisters-in-Iaw, Frances Lawrence and Shirley Guza, and her brother-in-law Martin Guza. Preceding Georgeana in death were her husband, Meinard, her parents, her grandson Hunter Guza, her father and mother-in-law, Edmund and Elizabeth (Swartz) Guza. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marion (Frank) Smaglinski and her brother-in-law James Piotrowski, and her brothers-in-Iaw and sisters in law: Edmund (Jeanette) Guza and Cletus Guza, Clara and Harold Booms, and George Lawrence. May her soul rest in peace.
Georgeana Agnes Guza, age 90 of Bad Axe, passed away on Friday, Oct 6, 2023 at Meadow Lanes under Hospice care surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 24, 1933 in Ubly, daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Salowitz) Paionk. She married Meinard Guza on February 13, 1954 in Warren, Michigan; they enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his death on April 11, 2021. She was a member of St Hubert Church and a Daughter of Isabella for many years, while also supporting numerous Pro-life efforts. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and found her strength and serenity through her trust in Divine Mercy. Among the many things that Georgeana enjoyed were quilting, cooking, gardening, dancing, playing cards, calling friends, and especially time spent with the family. She loved to laugh and was even capable of laughing at herself. She had a weak spot for sweets, especially ice cream! She was the loving mother of her twelve children: Denise (Don) Rice, Sr. Cynthia Agnes, DSP,Marcus (Anne Marie), Sr M. Stella, OMVF, Brother David, MIC, Michael (Beth) Guza, Teresa (Tim) Messing, Douglas (Kelley), Meinard, Matthew (Beverly), and Kimberly (Jeffery) Jameson. She was the proud grandmother of 46 grandchildren and their spouses. The children of Denise and Donald Rice: Ted, Kathy, Paul, Valentine, Antoinette, Michelle, Rosemary, Caroline, and Sarah; the children of Michael and Beth Guza: Aaron, Amanda, Amy Jo, Andrew, Michaela; the children of Teresa and Tim Messing: Gabriel, Sylvia, Georgie, Jonathan, Martin, Joseph, Michael, Mary,Timothy, and Peter; the children of Douglas and Kelley: Monica, Emily, and Benedict; the children of Gregory and Christine: Anne, Rebecca, Claire, Desirae, Elijah, Fabian, Gregory, Isaac, Joseph, Kristopher, Nathan and Olyssa; the children of Matthew and Beverly Guza; Matthew, Rosalia, Derrick,Hosanna, JonPaul, and Stephen. Georgeana also has 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
