Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Friday, October 13, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly. Rev. Nate Harburg, pastor will officiate. Doris will be laid to rest in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Ubly. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday form 2:00-8:00 pm and Friday at St. John Church from 10:00-10:45 am. There will be a rosary recited by the St. John Christian Mothers Thursday afternoon at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Doris’s family, care of her husband, Al. Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Al Lemke; her children, Al Lemke Jr., Natalie Lemke, Mark (Kathy) Lemke, Jared (Aimee) Lemke; one grandson, Nolan Lemke; step-grandchildren, Emily Stevens, Charlie (Kayla) Stevens, Dan (Claire) Stevens; her brothers, Glen (Geraldine) Peruski, Virgil (Norma) Peruski, Ervin (Charlotte) Peruski; two sisters-in-law, Kay Peruski and Evelyn Peruski. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Melvin Peruski, Leonard Peruski and John “Jack” Peruski Jr; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Marge Peruski.

Biography

Mrs. Doris Rose Lemke, 76, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Covenant Healthcare with family by her side. Doris was born September 4, 1947 in Ubly to the late John and Delphine (Maikrzek) Peruski. She graduated from Ubly High School. She met her husband Al, when they were young and they were united in marriage on January 18, 1964. Doris was employed most of her working years at Huron Memorial Hospital. In her earlier days, she worked at the seat belt factory in Ubly. Doris and Al raised three sons and one daughter. Doris loved to cook and have all the family together to celebrate holidays and birthdays. She enjoyed watching both her husband Al and her children play sports, She was an avid bowler at Gillis Hotel and attended multiple state tournaments. Doris was a parishioner of St. John Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly where she was a longtime member of the Christian Mothers. She was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan. Doris enjoyed nature, bird watching and taking care of her flowers. She loved watching Days of Our Lives and would then partake in an afternoon nap.
