Biography

Grace G. Parent, 90, of Caseville, our beautiful, kind, loving mother entered the Kingdom of Heaven on October 12, 2023. She went peacefully with her daughter beside her holding her hand. Grace Genevieve Abbs was born May 22, 1933 in Essexville, Michigan to the late Ross and Viola Abbs. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the old Bay Osteopathic Hospital in Bay City. In 1967 she and her two daughters moved to Bay Port, then she went back to school and became an LPN. After working almost 10 years at the Caro Regional Center (WAHJAMEGA). She remarried and moved to Tawas City. While living and working in Tawas City she knitted many hats for the newborn babies at Tawas Hospital. Her true calling came next, when she became head of nursing at Tawas Village Assisted Living. She loved her “residents” and they loved her. Even after retiring she would go in two days a week as a volunteer to call BINGO and help the activity director. After surviving a massive heart attack in 2015, she moved to Caseville to be near her daughters. From her apartment in Caseville she loved bird watching, reading, and doing word search puzzles. Being able to celebrate birthdays and holidays with her family brought her great joy.
