Biography

William "Bill" Arthur Taylor Jr, 77, of Pigeon, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. Bill was born January 8, 1946 in Pontiac, MI to the late William Taylor and Helen (Stevens) Taylor. He married Mary Loney in 1973 at the home he was building on Sand Point. As a young man, Bill enjoyed water skiing, boxing, camping, and drag racing his Pontiac Tempest around Detroit. He attended The Leelanau School, where he met some of his lifelong and best friends. He graduated in 1965 from Birmingham Seaholm High School and attained a degree in auto marketing from Northwood University. He first visited Caseville area as a child on hunting and fishing trips with his father. He fell in love with the area and decided to move there as an adult in 1971. His first job in the area was at Caseville Lumber where he learned the construction trade and eventually started his own construction business. With the natural gifts of an engineer's mind, an artist's eye, and great attention to detail, Bill created beautiful homes and structures for the residents of Sand Point throughout his career. His love of nature, quiet, woodworking, mechanics, photography, boating, muscle cars, and trains (boy did he love trains) was only surpassed by his love of family.
