A memorial service for Clayton will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 5 pm at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. The family will receive guests for visitation on Tuesday from 4 pm until the service time at 5 pm. Memorials may be offered to the St. Paul Methodist Church of Elkton or to the family. Clayton is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Steven) Yeomans of St. Simons Island, GA, two sons, Bryan Day of Bad Axe and Kevin (Melissa) Day of Columbus, OH. Three grandchildren, Heather (Josh) Homan, Dominic Yeomans and Macie Rains. One great-grandson, Micah Homan. Sister, Sharon Carpenter of Ubly, brother-in-law, Milton (Bonnie) Rolle of Minot, ND. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Eva Day. His wife, Nancy. Sister, Beverly Shaina. Brothers-in-law, Larry Carpenter and Arthur Shaina. Two nephews, Daren Rolle and Michael Shaina.

Biography

Clayton Edward Day, age 85 of Bad Axe, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He was born on May 20, 1938 in Bad Axe, MI to the late Sherman and Eva (Foster) Day. Clayton grew up in Bad Axe and was a graduate of Bad Axe High School. Following high school, he joined the army. After returning home, he married Nancy Rolle on August 24, 1963 at the First United Methodist Church in Bad Axe. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church of Elkton, the Indian Trails Riding Club, the Michigan Sheriff’s Posse Association, the Good Sam’s Camping Club, the America Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed hiking in Arizona and collecting antique tractors. He worked at Active Industries/Tower for 36 years. He retired with 21 years in the military.
