Born February 21, 1947, in Toronto, Canada, Paul was the son of William J. and Bernadette R. (Enright) Romberg. His family relocated to Mount Clemens, Michigan, in 1954 when his father was transferred to Selfridge Air Base. Paul graduated from St. Louis High School in 1965 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966. On June 3, 1967, Paul married the love of his life, Pearl Callewaert. Together they began an adventure that started by taking them to Stuttgart, Germany, where Paul served in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1969. He was also active in the Army Reserves for nine years. In 1974, Paul, Pearl and their young family moved to Ubly, Michigan and established Cedar Row Farm. Over the next 50 years, he raised vegetables for the Mount Clemens Farmers Market, beef cattle, hay, and drove school buses for Ubly Community Schools. Paul's life was filled with a love of the outdoors and a passion for working with his hands, whether tending the fields or repairing machinery. He was a fierce competitor in football, baseball, softball, and volleyball, and loved a good game of Hearts, Pinochle, or Euchre. Paul loved to support, coach and encourage his children while they participated in a variety of sports and school activities. He cherished time with his family, celebrating their achievements and creating memories on Michigan beaches, kayaking, and camping in the Upper Peninsula. His unwavering support for his children and grandchildren was a cornerstone of his life. Paul’s legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
