Funeral Information

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Friday, November 22nd at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne with Rev. Steve Neuman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8pm Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Friday at church. Memorials may be made to the St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice. A special thank you to Thomas Klosowski and Michael Lloyd for their support and help during Ellie’s time of need.

Family of the Deceased

Ellie is survived by her husband of 39 years John; children Melissa Klosowski (Michael Lloyd) of Kinde and Katie (Phill) LaFrance-Wilson of Sebewaing; step-children John III (Kristi) Richmond of Rochester Hills and Theresa (Paul) Koeppen of Saginaw; grandchildren Clayton, Joel, Kelsey, Avery, and Thaddeus; siblings Harry Keipinger, Lucille Keipinger, Lena Keipinger and Leroy Keipinger; brothers-in-law Gary (Karren) Richmond, Jim (Sandy) Richmond, and Keith (Nichole) Richmond; sisters-in-law Sharon (Terry) Henne and Karen (Glenn) Phillips; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Mike and Willard Keipinger, sister Luanne Smith, and sisters-in-law Marlene Keipinger and Judy Keipinger.

Biography

Eleanor “Ellie” Louise Richmond, 64, of Filion, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024 at home under the care of Heartland Hospice. Ellie was born February 3, 1960 in Caro to the late John and Lillian Keipinger. She married John Richmond Jr on August 3, 1985 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne. Ellie loved to help everyone. She graduated with her LPN license in December 1990. She retired from Courtney Manor Nursing and Rehab after 33 years of service. She loved to garden, plant flowers, and to can. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church-Berne and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Bad Axe.
