A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at St Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Burial will be in Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 2 – 8 pm at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe or Friday at the church from 11 am until the service time at noon. A scripture service will be offered on Thursday at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to St. Hubert Food Pantry or family discretion. Jane is survived by her husband, Richard J. Maurer of Ruth. Her seven children: David (Karen) Maurer, Loretta (Earl) Kuhn, Ladonna (Daniel) Volmering, Karen (Donald) Heleski, Richard L. (Barbara) Maurer, Duane (Diane) Maurer and Kay (Daniel) Balcer. Jane is survived by 27 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Her brother and sisters: Mary Alice (Jeff) Greene, Lorraine Kzinowek, John (Mary) Osentoski. In-laws: Helen Osentoski, Ruth Osentoski, Marie Maurer, Mary (Chuck) Fournier, Kathie Maurer, Lawrence (Regina) Maurer, Marjorie Weidman, Grace (Mike) Krause and Trudi (Mike) Lang. Jane was preceded in death by son-in-law Dennis Puvalowski, siblings Henry and Elmer Osentoski, Patricia (Ronald) Maurer, in-laws Gerald (Wilma) Maurer, William Maurer, Thomas Maurer, Michael Maurer and Judie Maurer (Fred Foulds)
Jane M. Maurer, age 86 of Ruth, was gathered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She was born on February 3, 1938 in Tyre, MI, daughter of the late Stanley and Bertha (Grifka) Osentoski. She married Richard J. Maurer on June 22, 1957 at St. Johns Catholic Church, Ubly MI Jane was a loving wife and mother who created a warm inviting home for her family. All who gathered at her home were treated to a delicious meal as she was known for her homemade pies and bread. You never left the table hungry. She was an avid quilter making quilts for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jane was a lifelong bowler, a 55 year 4-H leader and a league golfer. Jane loved going for a car ride with her husband Richard. She gave her time and talents to the church, American Cancer Society, and many community boards and organizations.
