A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Good Sheperd Parish – St. Columbkille Catholic Church of Sheridan Corners. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive guests for visitation on Saturday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful nurses of Compassus Hospice for the excellent care they gave Bill. Bill is survived by his wife Barbara McNish of Ubly, his two children, Deborah McNish of Salt Spring, British Columbia and Andrew (Dana) McNish of British Columbia, Canada. He has two grandchildren, Leim McNish and Emily McNish of British Columbia, Canada. Nephew Jody (Teresa) Gucwa of Fowlerville, MI. Niece Ann Marie Morrison of Westland and her children Khalley And Warren.Many nieces and nephews, all of Canada. He was preceded in death by his sisters Jean (Charlie) Hand of St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada, Gertrude (John) Tobin of Barrie, Ontario, Canada, Patrice (Rob) Gowen of Ottawa, British Columbia, Canada, , Brother Rob (Flacia) McNish of , British Columbia, Canada, In-laws, Joseph and Stella Gucwa, Brothers-in-law, Henry and Peter Gucwa, Sister-in-law, Joana (Steven) Morrison. Bill was the last living member of the family.
William G. McNish Jr., age 85, of Ubly, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 24, 1939 in Brockville, Ontario, Canada, son of the late William G. and Violet (Spinsby) McNish, Sr. He married Barbara Gucwa on July 19, 1974. They were married for 50 years. Bill was the youngest of the five McNish children. He attended school in Brockville, Ontario and went on to Brockville Hospital and became a nurse. He then came stateside to St. Frances in Peoria, IL and became an anesthetist. He also worked at Albert Schyer Hospital for two years. He worked at Saginaw General for two years and then came to the Thumb area and worked for Scheurer Hospital for 19 years and then to Deckerville for another 19 years. He then took on-call on the weekends for all the Hospitals in the Thumb area. He was a ham operator and loved to fly model airplanes.
