Funeral Information

Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 11am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish, Port Austin. Visitation will be held at church prior to the funeral mass beginning at 10am until start of mass. Burial will follow funeral mass in church cemetery.  Arrangements are being handled by the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her faithful neighborhood 4 o’clock friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choosing.

She is survived by her four children, Bill (Diana) Braun of Romeo; Janice (Walter) Ventline of Port Austin; Diana Braun of Evansville, Indiana; Irma (Ken) Tercero of New Market, Maryland; her beloved grandchildren, Lisa Ventline, Christie (Jason) Hammelman, Lori (Wayne) Kozlowski, Bill (Brittney) Braun, Amy (DJ) Logan, Joey Tercero, Alex Tercero, Erin Wolford, Beth (Mike) Nienaltowski, Lacey (Andrew) Pingitore; and her great grandchildren that always brought a smile to her face, Tegan, Kole, & Brady Kozlowski, Emma, Leah, and Maya Hammelman, Liam, Molly, Logan, and Landon Braun, Caleb & Travis Logan, Mila, Beckett, & Reed Nienaltowski; her sister, Lorraine Mazure of White Lake; brother-in-law, Ken Braun of Harbor Beach; sister-in-law, Phyllis Oparka of Shelby Twp.; and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Dolores was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Hannah Hammelman; siblings, Billy Oparka, Edith Oparka, Alfred Oparka, Jerome Oparka, Jeanette Lackowski, and Calvin Oparka.

Biography

Dolores Josephine Braun, 94, of Port Austin, passed away December 8, 2024. She was born January 22, 1930 to the late Joseph and Frances Oparka in Hamtramck, Michigan.  After moving to Harbor Beach, she met her soulmate, Raymond Braun. They were married on August 26, 1950 and spent 72 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death in 2022.  Dolores was a devoted homemaker who found her greatest joy in being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an exceptional cook, creating a kitchen full of love and creativity with her homemade cooking. She was also a gifted baker, always creating cakes and pies from scratch for birthdays and always replenishing a fresh stock of cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was rarely seen without one of her signature aprons! She was a faithful member of the Annunciation of Lord Parish, always keeping her family and friends close in her daily prayers. A humble woman at heart, she always put the needs of others before her own, selflessly serving her family and friends with grace and kindness.  She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, wonderful sister, and dear friend and neighbor.
