Daniel John Polega 76 of Huron Township, Kinde, passed away surrounded by his family on December 9th. Daniel was born on March 17, 1948 to the late Michael and Irene (Strozeski) Polega. Daniel attended the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint and graduated in 1967. He then worked at the Huron County Medical Care Facility for 45 years doing custodial work. He carried a pencil and paper in his pocket and was quick to give you a daily weather report. His outgoing personality allowed him to make friends with everyone even though he was deaf and totally speech impaired. Daniel was a member of Port Austin U & I Club and Kinde Seniors Club. He was an usher for St. Mary’s Church in Kinde for 50 years and was involved in the local club for the deaf. Daniel enjoyed yard work, gardening and selling his produce, feeding his many cats, feeding the birds, playing cards, watching sports and visiting family and friends. He loved Christmas and even dressed as Santa Clause at various events. He loved doing magic tricks for his nieces and nephews. Daniel looked forward to his brother Mike visiting him every morning at 7am for a cup of coffee and a cookie. Words cannot express how much we will miss him.
